Spikers Fall to Roger Williams in Four Games

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Despite a strong third-game showing, the Harvard men's volleyball team fell to Roger Williams College, 3-1, last night in Bristol, R.I.

The Crimson (1-3) started off cold, dropping the first game, 15-5, and struggling to a 15-13 loss in the second. The score was tied, 13-13, at one point in the second game, but the Crimson couldn't close out the victory.

"Going down 2-0 really hurt us," junior Mike Gaw said. "That second loss was clutch, it's really hard when you get down two games that quickly."

Harvard's two middle hitters, juniors Brian Ehrlich and John Nickerson, carried the team to a 15-6 triumph in the third game, as the Crimson played its best volleyball of the season.

Those Spikes

"We were serving tough and our middle attack was unstoppable [in the third game]," Gow said. "We also had good passing."

But Harvard lost its momentum in game four, as passing errors proved crucial to the Crimson. Roger Williams capitalized on Harvard's mistakes and closed out the match with a 15-9 victory.
