The Radcliffe rugby club placed fourth in the New England Championships over the weekend in Providence, R.I.
The Black and White opened the tournament with two easy wins, defeating Brown, 8-0, and Southern Connecticut State, 32-0, but fell in the semifinals to B.C., 4-0, in a defensive struggle.
"We played so well on Saturday," Alex Williams said. "We finally got our act together. It was some of the best rugby we've played in some time."
In the game against the Bears, Eliza Schwarz and Cherie Silvera scored two tries to give Radcliffe its first shutout.
The Black and White bulldozed past SCSU, recording three tries by Schwarz, two from Silvera, and one from Andrea Eror. Mary Christ and Silvera combined to score a try, as well as Karen Berman, Mary Moon and Silvera.
