Reports of Mice On the Rise At B-School

By Eliot Bush

The Operations department at Harvard Business School has had to deal with an uncommonly large rodent problem this winter, said Anthony D. Fucillo, assistant property manager.

Fucillo said he has received about 20 complaints of mice since November.

He said that the high frequency of sightings this year is caused by "the cold weather and campus construction."

Upon receiving the complaints, the Operations department took immediate action, said Fucillo. "Mice [are one thing] that we take very seriously," he said.

The Operations department has hired tow extermination companies to take care of the problem.

"The Business School contacted us to help them with an ongoing mouse problem," said Rod Kreimeyer, the owner of Best Pest Control.

Kreimeyer said students contribute to the problem. People "eating in their rooms," or "bringing in lunch," and "leaving [food] around," attracts rodents, he said.
