Captain Tammy Butler and freshman Allison Feaster of the Harvard women's basketball team were named Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, respectively, on Wednesday by the lvy League.
Butler led the Ivy League in scoring (17.6 points per game) and finished her career as Harvard's all-time leading scorer (1,605 pts.) and rebounder (1,053 rbs.). Feaster, meanwhile, led the lvies in rebounding (11.2 rpg) and was third in scoring, second in steals, second in free-throw percentage and third in field goal percentage.
The awards somewhat sweeten the bitter taste in Harvard's mouth from its season-ending loss to Dartmouth on Tuesday. Somewhat.
"Honestly I'm honored," Butler said, "But it is kind of bittersweet to get any sort of individual award. I'm pretty sure that [Feaster] and I would have both traded it in for a league title."
The All-Ivy First team consisted of Butler (for the third consecutive year), Feaster, Cornell's Keri Farley, Brown's Martina Jerant and Dartmouth's llsa Webeck. The Coach of the Year was Kim Jordan of Cornell.
