A ROTC Wrong

TO THE EDITORS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Your April 19 article on ROTC ("MIT Faculty Ask ROTC Program to Admit Gays") may give readers the mistaken impression that the MIT Faculty proposed that MIT guarantee the scholarships of all students enrolled in ROTC at MIT. Our Faculty proposed that MIT replace the scholarships of MIT students who have been discharged from ROTC due to their sexual orientation. We did not propose that MIT guarantee scholarships of Harvard or Wellesley students who participate in ROTC at MIT. --Lawrence S. Bacow, Chair of the MIT Faculty
