Yale Master Arrested

The Yale professor who resigned on Nov. 6 amid allegations of trafficking in Internet child pornography turned himself in to U.S. Marshals in Bridgeport, Conn., last Thursday.

Antonio C. Lasaga, a respected geology professor and, until two weeks ago, the master of Yale's Saybrook College, has been charged with the federal crimes of receiving and possessing child pornography.

Lasaga was freed after posting a $50,000 bond under the condition that he would not be in contact with children.

The two counts he faces each carry a maximum sentence of five years in prison and possible fines.

Court papers filed with Lasaga's arrest warrant state that someone in the Yale geology department saw the professor downloading pictures of nude boys and boys having sex with men.

According to the Yale Daily News, Yale President Richard Levin said no decision has been made about whether to pursue tenure revocation.

Lasaga remains on indefinite leave from his teaching duties.

His duties as master have been assumed by Harry B. Adams, the former master of Trumbull College.
